The sun is your child's number one enemy when you are out having fun together. Strong sunshine can irritate their eyes and long exposure can lead to complications in vision later on. Your child's skin is also particularly vulnerable because it is tender and can easily get a sunburn. The best solution to keep the sun away from your little one is the right sun protection: a parasol or a sun canopy.
A sun canopy can be pulled back and forth easily with just one hand, but due to its fixed installation it usually only provides the necessary shade to a limited extent and lets the legs of your child look out. A parasol, which is attached to the stroller with a clip, can be positioned as required, depending on where the sun is in the sky and offers extra protection in addition to the hood.
Versatility: Parents like to be out and about with their baby when the weather is good. However, the weather changes very quickly. In such cases, sun protection for the stroller does not only serve to keep the sun away, but can also be used in light rain. It also offers your child a little more privacy and protects them from prying eyes.
Breathable material: The materials from which sun protection products are made also allow sufficient air circulation that prevents your baby from heat accumulation.
Adjustability: Grass, concrete and other surfaces reflect sunlight and pass it on to your baby. A parasol can be flexibly aligned thanks to its push-fit fitting and bending elements and thus offers maximum protection in every situation.
Air-permeable materials are the key factors when choosing sun protection for the stroller and for avoiding heat accumulation. However, direct sun rays are not the only heat source to be considered. Babies themselves also produce heat and the stroller can also heat up quickly depending on the weather. It is therefore important to choose sun protection that is made of light, breathable or air-permeable materials.
Furthermore, you should make sure to check whether the selected sun protection has a high resistance to UV rays. Outdoor UV exposure can be too high for a baby's thin skin, regardless of whether the stroller is exposed to direct sunlight or whether it is standing in the shade. This is because UV rays are also reflected from surfaces such as grass, sand or concrete. Even on a cloudy day, the UV exposure can be more intense than on a clear day. Therefore, make sure to purchase sun protection with a UPF of 50+ to ensure maximum protection.
Using the right sunscreen to create a barrier between UV rays and your baby's skin is one of the most effective ways to protect your child's skin from skin damage later on. In addition to the sunscreen, the canopy of your stroller should also feature a UPF of 50+.
With the right sun protection for your stroller, you can go anywhere with your child without worrying about the harmful effects of the sun. On kidsroom.de we offer both sun canopies and parasols from well-known manufacturers such as Maxi-Cosi, Hartan, Inglesina and others.
